What To Expect From Your New Mattress
So you’ve just bought your new Siesta Sleepworks mattress after a careful selection of testing out beds in our showroom. Quite often though the first few nights on a new mattress may feel strange or even unfamiliar. So we are here to help guide you on exactly what to expect from your new mattress to provide some reassurance and bring back the excitement for your new mattress.
Give It Some Time
Your new mattress will probably feel a little firmer than it did in the showroom. This is normal. It often takes up to 4 weeks for our bodies to adjust to the improved support of a new mattress as well as soften the padding a little. The comfort and quality of your rest can affect your day to day life, so it’s not only important to make sure that you have found the right mattress, but that you’ve given it enough time to be properly broken in.
The Temperature
Some features, such as cooling material, will be less effective when used with non-breathable or synthetic sheets, comforters, or mattress covers. Direct sunlight, proximity to windows, and room temperature can also affect the material’s performance.
The Scent
You may notice a scent from the new materials and foams, so we recommend taking the time to air out your mattress. The smell will dissipate within days. People are really sensitive to this initial chemical smell so again it is worthwhile finding out the exact contents of the mattress before you buy it. If in doubt, Natural fiber filled mattresses are less likely to fill your house with that ‘new’ smell. Ventilation is the key to help your new bed off-gas quickly.
The Foundation
Every mattress needs proper support. King and queen mattress sets also need frames with middle support.
The Height
Your new mattress set may be taller or higher than your previous set. A low-profile box spring is recommended for mattresses over 14.
Thickness
Some of today’s mattresses are built much thicker than in years past so your new mattress set may be higher off the ground than your previous set and your existing sheets may not fit as well. To solve these challenges, you may need deep pocket sheets that are designed for thicker mattresses.
