Getting new bedroom furniture and mattresses is pointless if your sheets aren’t comfortable! That’s why we are going to help you pick the softest sheets possible so you’ll get a great night of sleep. Who doesn’t like soft sheets?
Don’t rely too much on thread count! Thread count is the number of threads horizontally and vertically per square inch. There are a lot of other factors that determine how soft sheets feel.
Check the ply of the fabric. a 1 ply 800 thread count sheet would be considered the same as a 2 ply 400 thread count sheet in terms of thread count.
If you are looking for heavy fabrics, go for the 2 ply. Single ply fabrics appear thinner and more delicate.
There are different types of cotton and they are not all equal. Egyptian cotton is breathable and absorbent. Pima cotton is durable and long lasting.
Look at the weave of the cotton. For silk like cotton sheets, look for ones that are closely woven percale sheeting. Flannel cotton sheets, with a twill weave provide fluffiness and a soft cozy feeling. The plain-stitch knitted jersey sheet is a stretchier piece of fabric and a sateen weave provides the most luxurious look.
Don’t be afraid to touch and feels the sheets. It ultimately comes down to how it feels against your skin.
