Mattresses can be a hard thing to judge on whether you should replace or not. Sure, you can still sleep on it. But are you comfortable? Are you sleeping through the night? Do you still wake up tired? Here are some tips on determining if you should replace your mattress or not.
1. The general rule of thumb is to replace your mattress every 10 years. Over time, your mattress absorbs all the sweat and dead skin cells that you produce when you sleep. Have you ever looked at the top of your mattress? You might find some embarrassing and disgusting stains.
2. Take all the sheets and blankets off your mattress and look for any protruding springs or sags/dips in your mattress. If its not completely level, it will cause issues with your back and you will want to replace it.
3. Think about how comfortable it is to sleep on your mattress. If you have a hard time getting comfortable or if your limbs fall asleep while you are laying on it, it may be time to get a new mattress.
4. Many times, when couples move in together they will share an old mattress that one of them owns. It may be cramped, too small or too old to support the weight of 2 people. If you are having trouble sleeping or wake each other up during the night, it may be time to consider a new mattress.
Remember, you spend two thirds of your live sleeping. Why not make it as comfortable as possible?
